Afrodescia 10 year anniversary party announced

image10 Years ago, I walked into Alumbra and met with Simon Digby and basically talked him into giving me a gig there. It began as a release for me, an incredible venue run by a very smart man and one night a week where I could sing whatever I wanted. A place where I could do some Eryka Badu, Jill Scott, Alicia Keys – all the music I loved.
It began as a quiet affair and developed into somewhat of an institution! Melbourne’s best singers and musicians would jam with us weekly and international acts (James Brown’s band, Alicia Keys band) came down and joined us on stage! We even had George Benson come down one Sunday to check out the gig!.10 years later Sunday Soul Sessions is still going and is stronger than ever, 5 years ago Bobby Love joined us and with an amazing crew and with Bobby’s vision in the mix it has evolved into Melbourne’s busiest and longest running Sunday night

We are celebrating at Alumbra on the 4th of August, with regulars past and current and the cream of the crop of Melbourne’s music scene joining us on stage for one huge night! Including greats like the original member of Afrodescia Mark Amato, Rima T, Carmen Hendricks, Cisco Tavares, Jerson Trinidad, the incredible Geoff Wells on guitar, Ricci and Gino Nanya and many more surprises!!
It will be a once in a lifetime gig to be at..make sure you keep the date free..we will be on the big stage from 9pm! I cant wait – I cant begin to tell you how special this is for me…Hope to see you all there!!

Alumbra Sunday Soul Sessions

After a huge 2012 at Alumbra, we are looking at an even bigger 2013! This will be my 10th year of Soul Sessions and we have some exciting changes in place. This year Afrodescia will feature some of Melbourne’s best musicians..including Aaron Mendoza (keys/bass/vocals), Rima T (vocals) and Mark Amato (keys/bass) alongside Dave Matthews, Jason Heerah and myself!
Bobby Love and his crew as always on the decks, and of course we will keep bringing out international acts as we did last year. Exciting times ahead!

Backing vocals for Hugh Jackman

I had the pleasure of doing backing vocals (for the second time) for Hugh Jackman at Crown for the Red Ball. Singing alongside Michelle Serret-Cursio and Nilusha Dassenaike, with a fantastic 20 piece orchestra. One of the most amazing gigs I’ve done. Hugh is an absolute gentleman and of course incredibly talented and charismatic. This gig was one of the biggest highlights of my career..
